What Hospice Offers

At our Hospice Residence, we provide state-of-the-art palliative care and supportive services to enhance the quality and dignity of life for those living with a palliative illness and their families.

Hospice is a promise of comfort where skilled professionals and volunteers work in partnership with a patient’s care team and community partners to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support along with compassionate care for the whole family in both their home and within our 10-suite residential care facility. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and support from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, all programs and services are offered at no cost for our community.

St. Joseph’s Hospice provides a peaceful, home-like environment with 24-hour specialized palliative care for individuals living with a life-limiting illness, along with compassionate support for their families and care partners.

Our residence is more than a medical facility—it’s a home. It’s a place where individuals at the end of life receive specialized 24-hour palliative care, and where families can simply be present with their loved ones, supported and surrounded by compassion.

Our 10-suite residence provides a warm, home-like atmosphere for individuals who cannot be cared for at home. Each private bedroom includes a comfortable bed, personal bathroom, cable TV, telephone, and Wi-Fi. Suites are designed to welcome both residents and their families in a relaxed, professional environment where privacy and comfort matter.

We offer:
▪️ Round-the-clock care by a specially trained interdisciplinary team
▪️ Support for residents and their entire care circle—emotionally, spiritually, and physically
▪️ A quiet, peaceful setting where dignity, love, and presence are at the heart of every day

Our team includes palliative nurses, personal support workers, social workers, spiritual care providers, kitchen and housekeeping staff, and a devoted group of trained volunteers—all working together to meet the unique needs of each individual and family.

Resident Rooms
Each resident at St. Joseph’s Hospice has a spacious private suite designed to feel both comfortable and calming—like home. Large windows fill the room with natural light and overlook a peaceful, park-like setting. Every suite includes a sitting area with a reclining sleeper chair and sofa, providing space for loved ones who wish to stay overnight.

The cabinetry includes wardrobe, and ample personal storage, while an accessible washroom, private balcony, and television offer’s comfort and convenience. Residents can personalize their space with photos or mementos, and enjoy the comforts of in-suite climate control and customizable lighting.

Each room is equipped with a state-of-the-art medical bed and pressure-relieving air mattress, along with a call-bell system beside the bed and in the washroom. Pendants or wristbands are also available to ensure help is always within reach. Every detail is thoughtfully designed to provide comfort, dignity, and peace at every stage of care.

Food & Hospitality
All meals and snacks are prepared in our full-service kitchen and tailored to meet the preferences and needs of each resident. While meals are provided for residents only, homemade soup, coffee, tea, and treats are available for family and visitors in Bev’s Bistro.

Families are welcome to bring personal food items and use the kitchenette in the Bistro Room.

Visitors Welcome

Visitors are a valued part of the hospice experience and are welcome at St. Joseph’s Hospice every day of the year. When visiting the residence, please use the entrance marked St. Joseph’s Hospice on the building. Parking is available in designated areas marked by signs on-site for visitors and families. For evening or overnight visits, the doors will be locked for safety—simply ring the doorbell and a member of our team will gladly let you in. We ask that all visitors sign in and out using our guest book to help us keep track of who is in the building in case of an emergency.

Please also help us maintain a scent-free environment, as many of our residents and staff are sensitive to fragrances. Thank you for helping us create a calm, respectful space for everyone in our care.

“I was impressed by the kindness of staff and volunteers to my sweet friend in her final days as well as to her family and friends! Her accommodations were so homey and comfortable!”
