In Your Home

St. Joseph’s Hospice offers programs and services that enhance the quality of life for individuals living with an a terminal illness that wish to reside in their home. Support is also extended to their caregivers and family members throughout the palliative journey at no charge. Our intention is to compassionately support the emotional, spiritual and social well-being of individuals living with a terminal illness and families in our community.

Volunteer Visiting

Living with a terminal illness can be an isolating experience and caring for someone can be challenging for a loved one.

Our Volunteer Visiting Program provides companionship, comfort, and practical support for the person living with a terminal illness as well as respite care for their caregivers and family.

Trained, caring and dedicated volunteers visit the person living with a terminal illness in their home or for outings in the community on an agreed time schedule. We use a confidential and thorough intake process to ensure we match you or your loved one with a trained volunteer who can support your unique needs. Clients and their volunteers have enjoyed activities such as:

Companionship in the home:

  • Conversation
  • Reading
  • Watching movies
  • Legacy work (photo albums, videos, etc.)

Outings in the community:

  • Walks
  • Trips to appointments
  • Activities (coffee, shopping, etc.)

Wellness Programs

In addition to providing companionship in the community, we also offer wellness programs both in your home and in our residence. Those living with a terminal illness, their caregivers and family members can access programs and services such as:
