2020 Virtual Hike for Hospice
October 3 & 4, 2020
The 12th Annual Hike for Hospice hit record numbers this year and that is all because of you! On behalf of the volunteer planning committee and the team at St. Joseph’s Hospice – THANK YOU!
Every year our goal for the event is to provide an opportunity to honour loved ones, and with family and friends connected together, remember the spirit and energy of those we have lost. Though this year’s hike took on a different virtual format, we are so grateful to have witnessed our community and Hospice family come together in such inspiring and original ways. Seeing your posts and videos of your individual “hikes” joining one another on social media and our Hike Social Wall brings tears to our eyes because it truly shows how despite the pandemic, despite the weather, despite our distance, our Hospice Family remains “Always Together, Even When We’re Apart.”
On behalf of St. Joseph’s Hospice, those within our care and their families, we want to sincerely thank you for your support and participation in the 12th Annual Hike for Hospice. This year nearly 200 people came together across the city – and province – and raised $126,492 in support of St. Joseph’s Hospice, making it our best Hike for Hospice ever!
These funds will directly impact the lives of those facing a terminal illness and their family through our 10-suite residential service, community support program, and vital grief and bereavement care. We are so grateful for this incredible community and could not provide quality end-of-life care without your steadfast support.
Thank you again for all you have done and continue to do for St. Joseph’s Hospice.
We hope to see you at the 13th Hike for Hospice next year!

Now more than ever, St. Joseph’s Hospice of London needs your help to raise at least $100,000! These funds are much-needed as Hospice has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic – and it will allow us to continue offering compassionate end-of-life care to individuals and their families in London-Middlesex.
If 500 participants each raise $500 between August 1 and October 3…that would $250,000 for Hospice! That’s just $8 a day you need to raise!
Our 11th Annual Hike for Hospice is going virtual this year – and with your help – it’s going to be the best one yet!
Countdown to Hike Weekend:
How does a Virtual Hike work?
Through the power of social media, we will come together even though we’re apart. The weekend of October 3 & 4 all participants are encouraged to hike however you want, wherever you are. Maybe that means spending the day doing yoga and meditation, or hiking the trails of London with your friends and family. Go biking or spend the day on your treadmill or at the gym! What’s important is that you stay active and mindful – and we’ll have plenty of fun tools, videos, and downloadables to help you do that, which will be shared over the 2 months of fundraising leading up to Hike weekend!
- All Participants who supply their mailing address during registration will receive a $10 Boston Pizza Coupon after the Hike weekend!
- PRIZES for the Top 3 Individual & Team Fundraisers include your choice of gift card from over 100 amazing merchants!
- McCormick Canada is generously matching the first $10,000 raised – so let’s see how quickly we can hit our first $10K!
What’s most important is that you SHARE HOW you’re “hiking”, and WHO you’re hiking for on social media, using the hashtags #SJHike2020 and #WhoIHikeFor. Post your photos over the weekend to Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter – and in realtime, they will all appear together on our Social Memorial Walls on our website at SJHospiceLondon.com. But, don’t wait for Hike weekend to arrive before you start using these hashtags – start sharing your photos of #WhoIHikeFor and fundraising efforts for #SJHike2020 all over social media TODAY!
This is just one way of many ways we will be “Always together, even when we’re apart”.
